Maternity and Bump Photography
Demi Moore certainly started a new genre in photography when she controversially appeared on the front cover of Vanity Fair in 1991, baring all at 7 months pregnant. Controversial as it was at the time, it certainly succeeded in breaking down taboos and opening the barriers for the thousands of other mothers-to-be that have done the same since.
The images that we capture are tasteful and sensitive and designed to provide a beautiful record of your baby’s growth as well as your changing body shape. At the Baby Photography Studio we can provide those once in a lifetime images for you, either at your home or at our studio in Crawley Down. There are a variety of styles and options for you to select from, including Sequence, Triptych and 8th Month sessions. Each can be purchased from our online shop under the Maternity and Bumps category.
Maternity Sequences
These sessions are taken when you are at 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 months pregnant with the final image to complete the set being of you and your newborn baby. The purpose is to record your bump as it grows and moves from ‘bean to baby’, providing both a fabulous memory of the whole time as well as a compelling wall art image. The final image can be developed in several ways, however, panoramic is the most naturally suited to showing the progression. Maternity Triptych Collection
This is a series of three images taken at 3 months, 8, months and after the birth. The first image is a portrait of either mum on her own or mum and dad together (this is taken in the early stages of your pregnancy when you are just beginning to show). The second image is a maternity picture with your bump fully developed around 8 months. Finally, the third image is the baby soon after birth. All the images are presented in a three picture presentation folio. Each session also offers opportunities to purchase extra images other than those in the finished portfolio.
Maternity 8 Month Bump Session
This single session is scheduled around 8 months, when your bump is fully developed. The type of session that you have entirely depends on what you would like, it can be a simple black and white portrait that captures you with your almost fully grown bump, semi or implied fine art nude alone or with your partner or a joyful family session where siblings can get involved in celebrating their brother or sister to be.

The sessions are purchased directly from our online shop, where you can also schedule your bookings using our on-line calendar should you wish or over the phone of easier. Sessions can be booked 7 days a week.
In the case of the maternity sequence pictures, we recommend that you get in touch as soon as possible and begin to make your bookings when you reach approximately three months pregnant. In the case of the single maternity shoot, for obvious reasons we recommend that you book your appointment for either the end of your 7th or very early in your 8th month. You will have plenty of bump to show off by then and it is more comfortable for you than waiting until right near the end of your pregnancy (not to mention the chance that you might leave it too late. Although we are always happy to welcome you with your newborn, we are not really qualified to make the transition from bump to baby in the studio!)
